Effective Fall 2025, we are making the following 2 changes to our age cut-offs.

1. Players will now move up an age category at the fall season. So for example our 2026 softball “year” will run Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.
2. League Age will now be as of August 31 of the playing year. So for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 a player’s league age will be their age on August 31, 2025. A player who turns 11 on September 1, 2025 or later will be 10U eligible in fall.

This change was first made by our governing body, USA Softball. Their age cut-off change led the rest of the softball governing organizations to adopt the August 31 date. The Northern Virginia Recreational Fastpitch Interleague Group, of which NVGSA is a member, has also voted to make this change. Our making this change keeps us in alignment.

In addition to aligning ourselves with our interleague group and governing body, this change allows players to learn the new rules of a higher age division in our more developmental fall season. It also keeps our Dimensions in alignment with their competition.
