Summer 2025 - Dimensions

NVGSA is pleased to offer our Summer Dimensions program for players in the 8U (new for summer 2025!), 10U, 12U and 18U age divisions.

As of June 8, 2025 our 18U, 12U, and 8U divisions are at capacity. To inquire if there may be a way your daughter can join a team at one of these divisions, please contact John Ahern, our Dimensions commissioner.

About the Program

PLEASE NOTE that unlike our house league play, registering for summer Dimensions does not guarantee team placement! Team formation is dependent on having a sufficient number of players, interested coaches, and space in the summer league for our teams to play. If your player is interested please register early in the process and strongly consider volunteering to coach.
You do not have to play NVGSA house in either spring or plan to play with us in fall to join summer Dimensions. We welcome all experienced softball players for summer play.
Unlike in fall and spring, our summer Dimensions teams do hold their own practices.
Summer Dimensions allows players from across the league an opportunity to play on the field with one another irrespective of regular house team or geographic divisions (east/west). Because there are no geographic age divisions for summer play, all players on a team across geographic divisions will practice on one field together. Be aware when signing up that you may be driving to any of our usual permitted fields for practice.
The program allows players additional time to play at a competitive level against teams from across Northern Virginia, primarily in Fairfax and Arlington counties. Games may be played throughout Fairfax. Last summer games were played at Caffi Fields, Towers Park, and Oakton High School in the Vienna area. In prior summers games have also been played at Wakefield Park in Annandale and other locations throughout Fairfax County.
The program gives those interested in our Firebirds Fastpitch travel program to explore a higher level of play and more games in advance of Firebirds tryouts.

Game Times

While the below is not a guarantee of game dates and times, this is the usual summer league schedule

8U typically plays two 1 hour games on Thursday evenings
10U typically plays two 1 hour, 15 minute games on Tuesday evenings
12U typically plays two 1 hour, 15 minute games on Wednesday evenings
18U typically plays two 1 hour, 15 minute games on Thursday evenings
Please note that teams will additionally practice once per week most weeks of the summer.

The Dimensions FAQ answers many questions you may have. Please note summer Dimensions is a competitive program for experienced players. New players should wait to register for our fall house league. Also note that Dimensions does not guarantee honoring any carpooling or friend requests. Teams are selected by and formed entirely at the NVGSA board's discretion.

Registration for Dimensions is a two-step process. Filling out the registration form expresses your interest in the program for your player - you will not pay at that time. NVGSA Management will look at the interested players and available coaches and form Dimensions teams at as many age groups as possible. Once these teams are formed, players who are able to be placed on a team will be sent a tryout acceptance email. On accepting their place on the team, you will pay for your player's participation. For any registrants who are not able to be placed on a team due to the wrong number of players at that age group or a lack of coach, an email will be sent notifying you.

Please consider volunteering to be a Dimensions coach or assistant coach to ensure we can form teams this summer. Volunteering occurs during registration or can be done here if you do not plan to register a player.

Recreational Registration

The NVGSA spring 2025 season has begun. Our fall season registration will open on July 1, 2025. In order to receive an email about it, you can create an account (Click 'Register') or navigate to our home page and add your email to our notification list. If you have an account already you do not need to add yourself to our list. You will already be notified about fall registration. We would be thrilled to have your family join us for our fall season.

To inquire whether there is still space in your child's age division for spring, please contact [email protected] or the appropriate age division commissioner. Generally our younger age divisions have more flexibility to add players mid-season than our older age divisions, but it is always worth asking!
